Our highly experienced sporting team are always available to ensure that your sporting needs are met, and your expectations exceeded.

Whether you are looking for grouse, partridge or pheasant; several good driven days or just the excuse to get away with some friends, Shieldhill can create the perfect trip for you.

Your resident hosts Bob, Christina and Jim Lamb, together with keepers Charlie Bentall and Jim McColm, have been keen sportsmen all their lives and have enjoyed great success restoring the shoots to their former glory, based on the quality of the birds, the wonderful scenery and the unique experience that is a sporting stay at Shieldhill.

Our two well known shooting estates, Glen and Muirkirk, are easily accessible from Shieldhill Castle, main airports and western ports. They are both able to present superb grouse, which are complimented at Glen by very testing pheasants and at Muirkirk by exciting partridge. We are able to offer guests one, two or three day sporting breaks that show great sport in superb surroundings.

Shieldhill Castle is set amongst some of the finest shoots in the South of Scotland. A variety of leisure pursuits are available close by. Game shooting, fishing, golfing and clay pigeon shooting are all available.
